Peter Blachford (April 28, 1949 to April 21, 2025)
Peter passed away peacefully in Burlington on April 21st, surrounded by his loving family and his cherished dog, Brownie.
Born in North Bay to Mary and Arnold Blachford, Peter later moved to Toronto and eventually settled in Oakville. After earning his degree in Business at York University and completing his MBA, he applied his leadership talents across many fields, leaving a lasting impact wherever he went. Peter dedicated much of his career to the betterment of health care services. Many will fondly remember him for his contributions such as the planning, development and establishment of the 120 bed Chronic Care Unit (McCall Wing), creation of a permanent donor recognition program (The Tree of Life), as well as many other groundbreaking initiatives at Queensway General Hospital.
Peter will be fondly remembered for his love of music, his skillful guitar playing and his effortless grace whether on the ski slopes or the waters of Lake Rosseau. His warmth, wisdom and sense of humor touched the lives of many. His approach to life was to live every moment to its fullest.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Heather, and his children, Courtney (Stef), Lauren (Greg), Matthew, Derek (Chelsea), and Alysia, and a devoted brother to Pat (Brenda). He was the proud and loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Mason, Rachel, Riley, Daniel, Harry, Holden, and Jack and to his grand furbabies, Rosie and Pattie. His memory will be forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A heartfelt thank you to our family physician, Mike Wong and the wonderful care he received from the nursing staff at Acclaim Health.
