Terry 'Rat' Murdoch

Terry was a great man, a fantastic friend, honourable brother and one hell of a model Canadian, you’d love him if you were a conservative…He was quick to tell you what he thought and if you didn’t agree with him he would let you know “your ass is sucking canal water!”

He always had a smile on his face, sometime is was at your expense, and his evil laugh would let you know. Most of the time he was happy to fall on the sword and make himself the butt of the joke just to get a laugh!

Terry loved life, even if he told you he didn’t. He loved his DQ sundaes, Bordeaux Cherry ice cream, took pride in his beautiful property “The Rat-a-Rosa” whether it was zipping around on his ford tractor, cutting his acres of well manicured “weedless” lawn or consistently changing something around his property.  He loved to go snowmobiling, being part of the Ganaraska Forest running groomers and fixing everything, keeping a detailed account of expenses and showing where they could improve, they thought he did such a good job they made him Vice President believe it or not!

Although Terry never married, he surrounded himself with a giant amount of friends, some might say that was so he could just get more work done around the house…but I personally know that he was the first person to come help out with anyone who needed a hand, and the proof was that when he called and needed a hand, too many friends showed up.. half of the work was completed and all the beer was used up… Rat was quick to make sure you marked down your empty on his organized list beside oil change quantities and squirrel kills….

Whether you knew Terry from back in the yellow chicken days, skiiing on Chandos Lake, Snowmobiling, General Motors, Farming, Hockey, or anywhere else your life was enriched because of him. He is dearly missed by all of us, and left a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.

As most of you know Terry had a long battle with Pancreatic cancer and passed away on May 19th 2023. We all have amazing memories of Terry and I will leave it open for anyone to add a memory or picture on this page at any time.

We are going out try and do an annual sled ride in Terry’s memory called “The Rat Race” where we bring together all the people who Ratty rode with, knew and had an impact on.

Donations can be made on this page or in person on the day of the ride.
