Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers, but it doesn’t have to stay that way.
In November of 2023, Pancreatic Cancer took my friend Dave, and now I'm riding from Toronto to Montréal over 3 days raising funds and awareness in his memory so we can increase survival rates and truly change the future of Pancreatic Cancer.
Sympathy goes a long way, but now it’s time for change.
I’m taking on this challenge to change the outcome of this devastating disease by pushing myself and moving with purpose to raise funds for life-saving research, critical support programs, and greater awareness.

I met Dave in 2004.
After graduating University I found myself slinging salads at a restaurant in Montreal. Dave was the Executive Chef, and I was earning my stripes as Garde Manger (fancy French for “one who prepares salads, cold plates and apps).
We spent long days and even longer nights together. I watched and learned, he tested my abilities and fuelled my curiosity. He became a mentor.
I quickly moved up the ranks and soon Dave and I were creating recipes together. He instilled in me an unbreakable confidence, a foundation of trust and love that would fuel a friendship long after the kitchen closed.
A few years later, I returned to Toronto where I continued to cook professionally, eventually running a kitchen myself. I continued to look to Dave for help and guidance even from a distance. His support was unrivalled.
Time ticked on, we kept in touch and “Chef Dave” soon became “Ol’ Pal Dave”, and eventually “Uncle Dave” to my son. He was a part of my family, and I was a part of his.
Following his 51st birthday, my friend Dave passed away at the hands of Pancreatic Cancer.
I miss him every day.
