For my Mom

Just over a year ago we lost my Mom to this cancer. She walked everyday of the week. She watched her diet closely because she had type 2 diabetes. She was at almost every sports event for her grandchildren. She has 10. She had just turn 71 in June! She was alive and living. Then on August long weekend in 2025 she went to the hospital. That was it, 54 days later she was gone. There was no sign of this disease in her at all. Nothing that screamed go to the doctor. Until it did. She suffered immensely in those last days, and she had no choice other than to medicate to stay comfortable while it took her life. There was no chance for any medical intervention for my Mom. That is not just unfair, but devastating to be unable to slow it down, let alone stop it. So now we walk for her so that one day other people, other families, get the opportunity to fight, because my Mom unfortunately didn’t have that chance.
